An excerpt from our mission reads, “KANM exists to give students the freedom to create. We believe college radio should be local and human. No algorithms. No corporate playlists. Just people sharing what they care about.”

Everything on our airwaves was hand-selected by one of our members regardless of whether there is a DJ in the studio live during rush hour or just Ben the Auto-DJ playing tracks in the dead of night.  However, this mission applies to all aspects of KANM beyond our radio broadcast.  This applies to our semesterly Zine, our t-shirt and poster contests, our concerts, articles, and everything in-between.  

Everything produced by KANM has had the love and passion of our members put into it.  Why?  Because KANM is a place for human creativity and self-expression to thrive.  

Because of these dearly held values, KANM has not and will not employ the use of generative artificial intelligence in our operations and does not condone the use of generative artificial intelligence within our organization.  

The overwhelming use of generative A.I. in this modern world has been a threat to human creativity and expression.  It has no place in our organization, which at its core, is meant to platform our members’ creativity.  KANM is a place for people to escape from this reality and be human without fear of being replaced by the machine.

KANM will not compromise its integrity by using generative A.I.  

KANM is for students, by students.  Forever.
