THIRD ANNUAL PREMIER HEAVY METAL & ROCK MUSIC FESTIVAL

RETURNS JUNE 7-9 ACROSS MULTIPLE VENUES IN AUSTIN, TEXAS

AUSTIN, TX (January 23, 2019) – Austin Terror Fest is excited to announce today the full music lineup for the third annual multi-day, multi-venue heavy metal and rock music festival taking place from June 7 to June 9 in Austin, Texas. Three-day weekend GA passes are available now for purchase at the official Facebook Event page.

Austin Terror Fest is an annual celebration of underground and independent heavy metal music and rock culture which will take place this year across a three-day weekend from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9, 2019. Each night of the festival, Austin Terror Fest will take over several of the most popular music venues in the renowned Red River Cultural District in downtown Austin to offer attendees performances from some of the most in-demand heavy metal and rock acts from across the globe, including several that have never performed in Texas before.

In the past, Austin Terror Fest has almost exclusively been an outlet for heavy metal and punk music performances. This year, the fest will expand its music lineup to feature new genres and sounds, including noise rock and hip-hop, in an effort to make the festival a more comprehensive and encompassing celebration of counterculture and experimental music. The third annual Austin Terror Fest has also relocated to popular Austin venues Barracuda and Empire Control Room & Garage in 2019 in order to allow for much more space for attendees at the fest, as well as to make the festival more accessible to the general public by moving to a more centralized location.

The full slate of bands set to perform at Austin Terror Fest 2019 includes headlining performances from modern contemporary classic acts that have already established their fame in the annals of metal music, including New Orleans blackened death metal monsters Goatwhore, who continue to tour in support of their critically acclaimed 2017 album, Vengeful Ascension; French blackened post-metal duo Alcest, who will be performing their signature blackgaze sound as the band is widely credited with pioneering the metal subgenre in the mid-2000’s; and grindcore goliath Pig Destroyer, who will be performing in support of their most recent album, Head Cage, which was ranked in Decibel Magazine’s top 10 albums of 2018. Additional headliners at Austin Terror Fest in 2019 will feature a roster of well-known stoner metal legends, as well as several acts that have massive cult followings on the underground circuit. Headliners include Church of Misery, who will bring their Black Sabbath-influenced style of doom metal all the way from Japan to give Texan doom and sludge fanatics a true taste of the Japanese metal scene. Several stoner-metal icons and cult favorites will also be performing, including Chicago’s Bongripper, who will be playing in Texas for the first time ever; Indian, a blackened noise metal ensemble that successfully combines the vocal stylings of Scandinavian black metal with the churning guitars of doom/stoner metal; living stoner metal legends, Bongzilla; and the one-man black metal and Americana-fusion project Panopticon, which heavily experiments with instruments and styles from music genres like bluegrass and Appalachian folk. Panopticon’s full touring band will actually perform two entirely separate shows at Austin Terror Fest - the first show being a Blaze Foley cover set as their first-ever performance in Texas, and the second show consisting of a full performance of Panopticon’s own music. Finishing out the list of headliners for Austin Terror Fest 2019 is noise rock duo Lightning Bolt, who are well known for their high energy performances during which the band performs on the floor surrounded by the crowd instead of onstage.

Additional bands set to perform at Austin Terror Fest include a variety of stoner, doom, and blackened-metal acts, as well as several representatives of the international grindcore scene and a further exploration into new musical territory, specifically hip-hop. Rounding out the 2019 music lineup are Denver sludge metal trio Primitive Man; veteran punks and metalers Integrity, who are largely credited with inspiring and developing the metalcore genre as a whole; Dorthia Cotrell of Windhand, who will be performing a Townes Van Zandt cover set; New Jersey experimental hip-hop group Dälek who layers industrial, noisy, and atmospheric beats with aggressive and complex rhyme schemes; Thou, a Baton Rouge sludge metal band that will join fellow Louisianians Goatwhore on the Austin Terror Fest 2019 lineup; Black Cobra, a two-person thrash/stoner metal act that melds the intensity and break-neck speed of groups like High on Fire with the heavy, chugging guitar riffs of bands like Weedeater; prolific American grindcore purveyors Full of Hell, who are expected to release the highly anticipated follow up to their 2017 album Trumpeting Ecstasy this year; and many more.

Austin Terror Fest was created in 2016 and continues to be entirely independently produced by local entrepreneurs Dusty Brooks and Dorian Domi. Brooks and Domi are not only successful music talent bookers, but they are also metal enthusiasts who look to continue growing the Austin Terror Fest brand for years to come. Last year’s Austin Terror Fest saw the largest attendance to date with 2,000 attendees, in addition to hosting 30 music acts from around the globe.

“I couldn’t be more excited to finally reveal this year’s lineup of performers; I really think this is going to be the biggest Austin Terror Fest yet, as we have been able to secure some of the best talent possible when it comes to metal and rock. Plus, we are expanding in year three to now include one of Austin’s finest music venues at Empire, which will offer access to even more fans than before,” said festival co-founder Dusty Brooks. “Feedback thus far has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to embracing this enthusiasm and support as we take Austin Terror Fest to new heights in 2019, and far beyond.”

The official music lineup poster for Austin Terror Fest was designed and illustrated in collaboration with the talented Trine Grimm, an experienced visual and tattoo artist based in Oslo, Norway. More of Trine Grimm’s work can be found on Instagram at @meditationinartform and @trinegrimm.
