Festival Friday: Modest Mouse at ACL Weekend 2

October 22, 2015

At Austin City Limits weekend two, I was graced by the presence of one my favorite bands -  Modest Mouse. I had been wanting to see Modest Mouse for the longest  time, and once I saw their name on the lineup for ACL, I bought my tickets as soon as I could. The first thing  I have to say about seeing Modest Mouse live is that they sound incredible. The only  other band that I can compare them to live is The Black Keys, and they sounded absolutely amazing . The sound was so clear and they hit the notes just perfectly that the music, honestly, sounded better live than on their album. Listening to "Dramamine" live was probably one  of the best songs to hear in person. It's moments like that  when I'm at a concert that remind me of why live music is so important to experience. But I digress. During their set, Modest Mouse played several of their more popular songs, such as "Ocean Breathes Salty",  "Dramamine", and "Tiny Cities Made of Ashes", among others. They also played some songs off of their most recent album, Strangers To Ourselves, such as "Pups to Dust" and "The Ground Walks, with Time  in a Box". The only thing I can say about their song selection and performance of said  songs is that they killed it every single time. No complaints, what so ever. If you're a fan of Modest Mouse or just have the opportunity to see them live, I highly recommend you do so. They are an incredible group of talented individuals and, let's face it, Isaac Brock is probably one of the coolest people on this planet. In the end, there are really two things to take away from this: 1.  Modest  Mouse is amazing live.  Really. 2. If you have the chance to see Modest  Mouse, take that chance. Take the leap! Go! Experience the beautiful sound that is Modest  Mouse blessing your eardrums. They will thank you. - Talia Chavez
